CIVIL AVIATION
WESTERN FEDERATED CLUBS. A meeting of the Western Federated Flying Clubs was held in Wanganui last week, the president of the federation, Mr A. S. Burgess, presiding. Delegates were present from the Palmerston North Aero Club, Wanganui, Hawera, Feilding and New Plymouth clubs.
The Palmerston North club advised that fifty acres on the outskirts of the city had been ploughed and resown, and hangar accommodation was being erected. A motion was carried that Palmerston North acknowledged its liability on the ’plane, and pay the amount with interest, and the position be reviewed in three months. Also that the New Zealand Aero Club be urged to press for finality in the matter of concession rates by telephone regarding weather reports. It was decided to recommend to the New Zealand federation that there be two official pageants in each of the North and South Islands each year, and that secondary pageants be arranged by clubs if desired. Messrs A. S. Burgess (Wanganui) and Dr. Buist (Hawera) were appointed delegates to the annual conference. Application is to be made by the federation to the Government for another ’plane. It wns decided that the three ’planes - of the federation meet Mr Oscar Garden south of Palmerston North and accompany him north through federation territory.
