(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Dec. 6. Mrs McGill, of Otaki, was among the prize-winners at the flower show held in Wellington, - 'obtaining a first prize and several seconds. Members of the Otaki Junior Mission Guild, who have been working assiduously for some time past, held a sale of work in aid of missions, and the display of goods did the young workers every credit. Miss Lee was in charge, white those who assisted her were Misses Sybil St. George, Betty Box, Marjorie Fearnloy, Barabara Swabey, Rita and Dulcie Nicolson, Ida Bills, Muriel Satherley, Una Freeman, Maisie Noble and Betty Brant. The sum of £ls was raised. During Inspector Hugo’s , visit to Otaki he suggested to members of the Firo Board that a telephone line should be run from the Post Office to the fire station so as to enable those at the Post Office to give an alarm in case of fire.

Inspector Hugo paid a visit to Otaki on Wednesday and in the evening inspected the members of the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade, who had assembled under the direction of Superintendent Cockrell. The death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital of Miss, Rogerson, sister of Mrs Satherley, of Otaki, Mrs Andrews, of Sanson, and Messrs H. and R. Andrews, also of Sanson. At the Otaki Convent the death occurred of Sister Mary de Pazzi, eldest daughter of Mrs E. M. and the late Mr Kay, of Wanganui. . The quarterly meeting of the IJtaki Licensing Committee was held on Thursday. There were present: Messrs J. L. Stout, S.M. (chairman), T. O’Rourke T, H Windley, L. G. Lowry, H. Nicolson and H. Witchell, the latter taking his seat for tho first time, filling the vacancy caused by the death of Mr H. Freeman. Business was of short duration, a transfer being granted from Robert McMullian (Taita Hotel) tp James Tracey.
