WOODVILLE,’ Dec. 5 At to-day’s meeting of the Woodville County Council a letter was received from a Woodville resident offering £1 for the privilege of cutting cocksfoot on county property. Tho council appointed Mr W. Grubner dog-tax collector. There were four applicants for the position. The pay-sheet, amounting to £771 3s 6d, was passed for payment. The sum of £5 5s was granted to the cancer research fund. Advice has been received that Mr Bruce Davidson, son of Rev. G. W. Davidson, of Woodville, has passed his final qualifying examination as a dentist at the Otago Dental School, with the degree of B.D.S.
The Mayor, Mr H. P. Home, states that he intends to bring before the Borough Council next week the question of forming an unemployment committee. On Wednesday afternoon tho infant pupils of the District High School rendered a delightful concert before a large attendance of parents and friends. The children carried out their duties to perfection, and were a pleasure to the audience. Great credit is due Miss Redwood who has spared no effort in coaching the children.
