HEAVY PENALTY.

TRAFFIC REGULATION BREACH. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, May 14. J. Peach carrier, of Wellington, was fined £2O and costs by Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., yesterday for driving a, motor lorry on the main highway with a load greater than that for which his license was issued. In bringing the case forward, Mr \V. Berry, traffic inspector for the Manawatu County Council, said that accused had a license to carry seven tons, while his load when weighed proved to be eight tons 10 cwt. The license which Peach had taken out cost £4O, but the one he should have had cost £6O. In fining accused the difference, the Magistrate remarked that Peach had beaten the licensing authority for £2O and that would be the amount of his penalty.
