BRITAIN AND EGYPT.
3 P-M. EDITION
TREATY NEGOTIATIONS. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 16. 10.5 a.m. LONDON,. April 15. It is learned that Australia’s vital concern in the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty negotiations, nnmely the Suez Canal, has been satisfactorily settled. It, is expected that to-night’s parley will be momentous. It is stated that tho British are determined to settle the Sudan question during the sitting, and if the Egyptians do not agree to the proposals from this morning’s special meeting of Cabinet, the British are prepared to sit up all night, while the Egyptians retire to think over matters, and if they are still hot agreeable the British might immediately conclude the parleys. - Practically nil the clauses have been settled except four points, including the major Sudan issue, also the Egyptians’ demand that they alone should, decide when Egyptian troops are competent to guard the canal. . It is hot likely that Mr Arthur Henderson will make the slightest compromise on such a proposal.
