SCHOOL SWIMMING.

During the assembly at Central Schol • yesterday, Mr E. Bary, headmaster, presented the medals won by the successful Central School competitors in the combined schools’ swimming sports held on March 5. The school won the Championship Cup with a total of 89 points, 44 ahead of the second placed school. C. Hopkins is the champion boy swimmer with a total of four firsts, he having won the 33 1-3 yards breaststroke senior, 33 1-3 yard backstroke, 66 2-3 yards and 100 yards senior boys. Jean Winiata, champion girl, was presented with a certificate for breaking standard time at the Manawatu Swimming Centre’s sports. Gladys Sylva also qualified for a similar certificate. Hopkins was a member of the relay team which won the cun for the school. This is the eleventh time that Central' have won the Championship Cup since its presentation in 1918.
