GAMBLING SCHOOL
- DISCOVERY IN SYDNEY. »’PLANES HELP POLICE. TWO-UP PLAYERS ARRESTED^ (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). Received April 14, 9.55 a.m. SYDNEY, April 14. The ingenuity of the police resulted in the discovery of a big gambling school at Redfem. An neroplane was used to direct the detectives to a place in the scrub, where a large number of men were playing' two-up in a cleverly-camou-flaged ring. The school was barricaded with wire entanglements, in which branches and scrubs were twined. Upon the approach of the police tho scouts who had been posted round tho ground began to wave white cloths. Then a smoke screen was sent up, and the men were soon fleeing in all directions. ’Planes flying low joined in the chase. Eight men were arrested. Many articles of clothing and two bicycles were left behind by the decamping players.
