CHURCH’S PROTEST. (Tly Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, April 13. At a vestry meeting of the Church of St. John the Baptist, Northcote, a resolution was passed protesting to the Borough Council against the rescinding of their recent decision to forbid the screening of pictures in the local theatre on Gocxl Friday, The vicar held that it was wrong to permit an entertainment for, private profit on the most sacred day of the year. A protest was also sent to the local tennis club regarding the playing of tennis on good Friday.
