1 THE DIXON CUP. AVON BY~FEILDING. , Meeting Terrace End on Saturday in a match for the Dixon Cup, the Feilding representatives, from whom the trophy had originally been wrested, regained possession of it in tho thirteenth game which the holders had been called upon to play this season. Terrace End wero represented 1 y Christiansen, J. W. Smith, Jones,, Johnson (skip) and the successful challenging rink, which won 29 — 10, was comprised of Way, Ramsay, Moore and Neilson (skip). Playing consistently and drawing well on a heavy green, Feilding ran up seven points on the first three heads. At the seventh they led 14 —2, Terrace End having taken only one head. The holders of tho trophy secured a three on the next, but Feilding then secured two singles in succession. With four heads to go, Feilding led 25—7 and Terrace End’s position was hopeless, the game eventually ending with the score 29—10 in favour of the challengers. Subsequently, the trophy was presented to the winners. Mention was made of .Terrace End’s meritorious record in defending it against so many onslaughts and cheers were given for both rinks. MANSON AND BARR CUP. A rink from the Manawatu Bowling Club, Royal, Karton, Preece, Kennedy (skip), played the holders of the Manson and Barr Cup, Mowlem, J. H. Nash, Fraser, N. H. Nash (skip), Palmerston North Club, on Saturday afternoon, suffering defeat by 26 points to 13. The match was even until the 13th head when the challengers were a point in arrears, hut in the next five heads the holders put on 12 points, including a eix. On the three remaining heads the challengers got two singles and the holders two points. NORTHERN v. PALMERSTON NORTH. Northern and Palmerston North Clubs exchanged visits on Saturday afternoon. At Palmerston North Club the visitors were defeated in the aggregate by nine points, details being as follow, the home rinks being mentioned first: — Mouldey, Croucher, Giorgi, AA r . W. Jones (skip) ’29 v. Park, Brookie, Beattie, Rumble (skip) 19. Frew, Shelley, G. Wilson. Skoglund (skip) 19 v. H. Stallard, Kensington, Sharman, Stuart (skip) 15. Wanden, Lancaster, Gooding, Rabono (skip) 17 v. Andrew, Stewart, Kirk, Fenwick (skip) 23. Findlay, Gemmell, Galliclian, Tremaine (skip) 21 v. Dale, Amyes, Parsons, Bryan (skip) 20. Totals: Palnterston North, 86; Northern, 77. Tho four Palmerston North rinks that visited Northern Club’s green were defeated by 86 points to 66. Scores were as follow. Northern rinks being mentioned first in each instance: Dickel, Moore, Robinson, Stevens (skip) 16 lost to Dustin, Croad, A. Pickering, Morris (skip) 22. Newton, Eliott, R. Stallard, Pilcher (skip 27 heat Bennett, Childs, A. Wilson, Arnott (skip) 12. OTHER MATCHES. ' Two Palmerston North rinks entered in the Easter tournament tried conclusions on Saturday afternoon, the match resulting:—J. Childs, Griggs, Brown, Ramsay (skip) 29; Holdaway, Ross, Spencer, Bary (skip). Playing a friendly game against Takaro on Saturday, a Northern rink comprised of Stallard, Valentine, Ransom, McKee (skip), 25, beat Maul, Bengo, Moxon, Lynch (skip) 20. 'Another rink, skipped by,Rutledge, lost by seven points, when playing against Littlejohn. • , , Six Woodville rinks visited Terrace End and secured a narrow victory. Each club won three games, but the visitors led in the aggregate by 99 points to 93.
