NEW BOXING SCHOOL.
TO BE OPENED TO-NIGHT. It isf anticipated that Mr Fritz Holland’s boxing school,, which will open in the old fire station in Cuba Street to-night, will create records in members to receive, tuition, so that some clever boxers, should be turned out in the future. Large numbers of young men and boys have already, intimated their intention of becoming pupils of this well-known mentor,, while numerous honorary members have been • enrolled. Many famous boxers in Canada, U.S.A., Australia and New Zealand have been pupils of Mr Fritz Holland. The present heavyweight champion of New Zealand is one of them. For the past six years Mr Holland has taught boxing at St. Andrew’s College, Christchurch, where for five consecutive years St. Andrew’s won the boxing championship of the secondary schools. There have been offers made to Mr Holland from surrounding places, but Mr Holland considers that it will be better to get the Palmerston North classes under full swing before he attempts to further enlarge his circuit. Later on, however, he will assuredly, he says, open a school in any centres where there are a sufficient number of enrolments to justify the establishment of boxing schools. Mr Holland carries credentials from leading. citizens, churches and boxing associations which testify to his ability and integrity. The following is a sample: Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, March 6, 1930.—Mr Fritz Holland has had the, use of the St. Paul’s Church schoolroom for the purpose of holding his boxing classes. The classes have been conducted in a splendid manner and not only have the boys been taught boxing, but also good citizenship. The discipline has been excellent.—(Signed) W. Taylor, St. Paul’s Church Vestry/ Wairoa, Another states: Gisborne Boxing Association, March 6. 1930. Mr Fritz Hilland has been conducting boxing classes' here' during the last five weeks. His methods are a great improvement on what we have been used to and I have no hesitation in stating that the boys under his tuition have shown marked improvement. The general behaviour of the lads under his care was of the very best.— (Signed),, B. H. Aislabie, president Gisborne Boeing Association, ~
