UNLUCKY AIRMEN
LONG TREK TO WYNDHAM. TWO SYDNEY FLIERS. JOURNEY IN TERRIFIC HEAT. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 2, 9.45 a.m. SYDNEY, April 2. All yesterday Messrs D/Smith and H. W. Shiers, the Sydney airmen, with a party of police, trekked toward Wyndham over a hazardous track in terrific heat from the spot where the City of Sydney was forced down. The party had including many detours owing to the roughness of the territory. They travelled by truck, car and horseback, and in some places on foot. They expected to arrive at Wyndham at six o’clock last night, but no word of their arrival had been received in Sydney early- this morning. The monoplane was left behind. PIPER-KAY FLIGHT. SYDNEY ON THURSDAY. SYDNEY, April 1. Flying Officers Piper and Ivay, the New Zealand airmen, effected repairs to their aeroplane and returned to Longreach. They will leave Longreach t-o-morrow for Narromine. The New Zealanders expect to arrive at Sydney on Thursday.
