PADDY’S MARKET.
For months past a large number of ladies headed by Mrs J. A. Nash have been working very assiduously preparing for the great event which opens at the Showgrounds on Monday evening at 7.15. A large numbor of stalls have been erected and will be laden with all kinds of goods. Gaines have been kindly loaned by Mr Gilbertson, of Wanganui, and will bo sure to create a great deal of interest during the fair. On Wednesday and Friday evenings cabarets will be held in the association’s spacious entertainment hall. Fresh meat will be sold daily. This is an opportunity for citizens to help the Garrison Band. No charge is being made for admission and tho fair will be opened by His Worship the Mayor, Mr A. J. Graham, at 8.30 p.m. Mr J. Linklator, M.P., has also been invited to speak. A procession will start from the Pest Offico at 7 p.m. Paddy’s Market will bo continued daily for the week from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 till 10 p.m.
Lancashire thrift is proverbial. During 1928 the amount deposited in the Chorley Savings Bank was £54,606. nearly double the figure for 1924.
