DIRT TRACK RACING.
WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. There was certainly no lack of excitement at the Kilbimie Stadium on Saturday night. Those present witnessed some really exciting races, and when W. Kilmister (Wellington) won the final of the contest for the.golden helmet their enthusiasm knew no bounds. Kilmister, who returned to his old form, is certainly the favourite of the speedway patrons. He rode splendidly throughout the evening. The standard of riding was good generally, and there were some close finishes. Miss Fay Taylour, who made her final appearance, was accorded a great ovation. She rode a good race against Harvie, the New Zealander, but was unable to repeat her successes of the previous Saturday and Wednesday nights. P. McGhee was successful in winning the First Division Handicap, and A. Blair carried off the Second Division Handicap. The “shooting” of a moving picture of the audience caused much excitement. |
