FOR A BLIND BOY.
MRS DALEFIELD’S GENEROUS
WORK
The sum of £lO2 3s 6d has been raised by Mrs G. F. Dalefield, of Gillespie’s Line, Kairanga, from the sale of flowers, seeds, etc., on behalf of Master Jack Shortt, who lost his sight through*being seriously injured by the explosion of a live shell at Foxton about 18 months ago. No donations were asked for, but they were sometimes given. Mr J. Linklater, M.P., donated £l, Miss L. Dalefield (Ohura) £l, two ladies 10s each, and there were many smaller donations. The sales of flowers, seeds, etc bought £74 14s 6d, and the sum of £27 9s was received in donations. As the majority of the bunches of flowers and packets of seed were sold at 3d each, this work has taken some time. Mrs Dalefield spent many hours gathering the seeds and prepared three thousand packages of bulbs and seeds —writing the names and instructions by hand on each package. All who have generously helped this cause are thanked for their assistance.
