GAMING CHARGE.

CARNIVAL SECRETARY FINED. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 4. That being tlie occupier of premises in Gore Street lie did use the said premises as a common gaming house was tlie charge preferred against the secretary of the Bluff Civic Carnival Committee in the Bluff Magistrate’s Court to-day. The case .arose out of a recent carnival there, when apparatus for tho games was procured from Dunedin for money-raising purposes. Tho prosecution practically constitutes a test case as the same apparatus has been used in Dunedin for some time and is almost identical with that used at the exhibition. Accused was convicted and fined £2 and costs 10s.
