HORAHORA POWER.

GETTING BACK TO NORMAL,

AVELLINGTON, Sept. 5

A reassuring statement concerning the restoration of power supplies from the Horahora electric power station, which were dislocated as a result ot a fire in the transformer house, was made by the Prime Minister in the blouse of Representatives yesterday when replj’ing to a question by Mr J. C Rolleston (Waitoiuo). Mr Coates said that 9000 k.w. were available on Monday and 1600 k.w. yesterday, while there would be a further 3030 k.w. to-day. It did not appear necessary for the dairy farnieis using machinery to make special arrangements for their power, as advice had been received that tho station was supplying all milking loads. In some areas the voltage was low, but yesterday afternoon it had been greatly improved. It was expected that supplies would he normal on Friday, but in the meantime some restrictions might be -.necessary to improve the voltage. 1 “How the engineers have met the situation is simply extraordinary, added the Prime Minister. I think they are doing wonderful work. AVhat seemed like chaos on Monday now appears to he orderly arrangement.” A member: Yes, you have some good engineers there.
