GASWRKS REFUSE.
ALLEGED POLLUTING OF LAGOON.
A strongly worded objection from Messrs limes and Oakley, as solicitois for the St. Patrick’s College trustees, to gasworks refuse being discharged into a local property of the college, was read at last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council. . . The solicitors’ letter advised that they had been advised by the trustees of St. Patrick’s College to write in reference to the damage that had been done, and is still being done, to the water in the lagoon oil their clients property by reason of tlie discharge into it of liquid containing coke dust and oil from the council’s gasworks, and requesting that tlve nuisance bo abated, failing which their clients would bo compelled to apply tor an injunction and damages for the nuisance caused. Tlie water was used ior supplying th© stock of tho lesseo ol the property. „ , , , ~ Cn tlie motion of Cr Fitzherbert the matter was referred to tlie public works committee, tlve borough engineer and tho gas manager to prepare a roport. _________
