ALLEGED MURDER.

FRENCHMAN BEFORE COURT.

LONDON, April 8. Charles Emile Berthier, who was arrested at Newhavcn, was charged at Marlborough Street court with the murder of Charles Bafiada, and remanded. —A. and N.Z. cable.

On the evning of April 5 a man dashed liatless from a Soho club, with Tilooil streaming from a wound in his head, despite which lie escaped. The police found a man dead in the club. It is believed that the men quarrelled suddenly about a woman while playing cards and drinking. Detectives boarded a Channel steamer at Newhaven late last night, just before she departed for Dieppe, and detained a Frenchman in connection with the murder of his coni' patriot.
