FRANCE’S DEBTS

GOVERNMENT’S SCHEME

APPEAL TO PATRIOTISM.

VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTIONS WANTED.

(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 9, 10.15 a.m. PARIS, April 8. The newspapers publish details of a scheme which the Government is said to be considering for a national appeal for patriotic, voluntary subscriptions to pay off Franco’s debts. The nucleus of the movement will be a “Committee of National Propaganda,” presided over by one of Franco’s heroes, whose name is synonymous with victory. The committee is to be non-political and non-party, and will appeal throughout the country for voluntary subscriptions. The Journal says the financial ball will be set rolling by members of the Government themselves. Every penny of the proceeds will bo devoted to paying off debts as early, as possible.
