NEW OAR.

LONDON MAN’S DESIGN. LONDON, March 28. Ayling, a London bontbuilder, has designed a new oar, with a half-inch hole drilled in the contre of tho blade. It was used by Thompson, rowing six in tho Oxford boat. Ayling declares that the hole, which is rimmed with brass, creates suction, keeping the blade absolutely rigid, and increasing tho effectiveness of the pressure. Whereas ordinarily the water passes around the blade, tho hole, which is six inches from the end, attracts tho water to the spot where the pressure is best exerted.
