MISSING JEWELS.

V.C.’s HONOUR VINDICATED

LONDON, March 20. Justice Sir Henry McCardie gave judgment for £IOOO damages in favour of Mrs Dolores Pauling (the wife of Captain F. Booth, V.C.), from whom she is separated. She had claimed £1029 from a firm of jewellers, who, sho said, had delivered a parcel of jewellery to her husband’s address.

His Lordship pointed out there was nothing on the outside of the parcel to show its value. Both parties had accepted Booth’s statement that he thought it contained gloves, and that he tossed it on to the hall table, after which it was not seen. Captain Booth’s honour and integrity were unchallenged.

Mrs Booth has taken fresh steps to change her name to Dolores Pauling.
