BATHING FATALITY.

BODY FOUND ON BEACH

VICTIM OF CASTLECLIFF TRAGEDY.

Tho body of a man clad in bathing costume was discovered on the beach north of Tangimoana on Saturday evening, and it was later identified as that of James Oliver Scott, aged 25 years, who was missed from Castlecliif the- previous Sunday. Constable Blaxland, of Rongotea, had the body conveyed to Sandon, where an inquest was held yesterday by the coroner, Mr E. Goodbeliere, of Feilding. The body was identified by physical characteristics and by the remains of the bathing costume. A verdict was returned to tho effect that tho deceased was accidentally drowned. It will be remembered ("says the Wanganui Chronicle) that Scott was last seen by his brother (with whom he had been bathing) proceeding in the direction of tho breakwater, and away from tho point where the majority of bathers were enjoying tho surf. It was calculated that tho body would bo carried by tho current down the coast, and during tho past week the beach as far down as Turakina had been patrolled.
