“LAND OF EMPTY SPACES.” LONDON, Dec. 29. The Daily Express, under the headline “Problem of Australia’s Future,” across the front page, features the report of Mr R. W. Dalton, British Trade Commissioner for Australia, on tho situation in Australia to June, 1925, which lias been issued by tho Department of Overseas Trade. The Express says that Mr Dalton places in tlie foreground of liis picture two striking facts, that Australia is the land of many empty spaces and two great cities, and gives prominence to a passage in which Mr Dalton discusses the effect of high tariffs, file development of manufactures and the drift to the. cities.—A. and N.Z. cable.
