HENDON AERODROME.

GOVERNMENT PURCHASE. USE AS DEFENCE STATION. LONDON, Dec. 29. Tho purchase by the Government from Mr Claude Graliam-White, aviator and aeronautical, engineer, of most of his property at Hendon, including the aerodrome, at a price which is stated to bo about £BOO,OOO, ends Mr Grahame-White’s dispute with tho Treasury, which has been protracted since tho armistice. Mr Grahame-Whito manufactured war aeroplanes oil a most extensive scale, necessitating the borrowing of about £380,000 from tho Government. This, however, was subject to big counterclaims in respect to the war aeroplanes and other expenses. Finally Mr Gra-liamc-White issued a writ against the Government, and this is terminated by the present settlement. The Daily Telegraph announces that tlio’ Government intends to use the Hendon aerodrome as an important homo defenco station and school for airmen.—A. and N.Z. cable.
