PREMIER’S VISIT.

TO-NIGHT’S BIG GATHERING

PUBLIC INVITED TO ATTEND

His first official visit to Palmerston North as Prime Minister is being paid bv the Hou. J. G. Coates this altein'oon. The Premier, who was expected to be accompanied by a Minister and a party ol members of both Houses, was scheduled to arrive from Wellington by the Main Trunk express, and arrangements for meeting him at the railwav station were made by members of the local branch of the Reform League. Following that, it was proposed to adjourn for afternoon tea to Messrs Collinson and Cunning hame’s, where the party would he the guests of the firm. A visit to the Soldiers’ Club at 4.30 was next on the programme, to be followed by a civic reception at 5 p.m., a dinner at a local hotel at 6 p.m., and a public function at 8 p.m. at the Opera House. , In connection with the function at the Opera House, there will be several short addresses of welcome and a replv by the Premier, following which a social will be held in the Municipal Hall. The gatherings will be informal in character in order to encourage as large an attendance as possible of all who desire to meet Mr Coates. An open invitation has been extended the public to attend this evening’s function.
