RUNAWAY MOTOR CAR.

FENCE AND VERANDAH DAMAGED. AUCKLAND, Jan. 6. On no fewer than three occasions recently runaway motor vehicles have damaged residential property in Grafton road. The third incident occurred yesterday when an unoccupied five-seater motor-oar started from where it had been left standing near tha kerb and. after travelling downhill for about iOO yards, mounted the footpath. It knocked down the picket fence in front of a house, No. 68. and then collided with the verandah of the adjoining residence, No. 66. A post at tho corner of the verandah was broken and tho ile»Ce fronting No. 66 was slightly damaged. Except for bent mudguards and a deflated tyre the motor-oar was undamaged. A motor-car got out of control in Graftal road a short time ago and came to a standstill in somewhat similar circumstances and quite recently a motor-lorry crashed into and partly demolished another house.
