MAYOR ISLAND FISHING.

LAUNCH PARTY'S SUCCESS

TAURANGA, Jan. 6

A local launch party enjoyed excellent fishing off Mayor Island during the holidays, securing 31 hapuka, the heaviest' being about 1001 b., 200 schnapper; a number of kingfish, and many fish of other kinds. Other parties have had substantial catches in waters near Tauranga. Two launches with six sportsmen, have left for Mayor Island, and ft is intended to test the sword-fishing before returning to Tauranga. This is the first party to visit the swordfiahing area this season. A number of swordfish were observed off Mayor Island last week. Several other parties are arranging to visit .the island for fishing.
