David Williams, of Merthyr, was summoned on an order from Auckland ordering him to pay his wife Katherine, 40s weekly for maintenance. Williams pleaded that when he married tbe woman be understood she had divorced her husband, but bo bad since found that the decree had not been made absolute when she married Williams. til view of the evidence that Williams was never properly married the Magistrate declined to confirm the order, but is sending tbe papers to Auckland. —A. and N’.Z. cable.
