MEMBER ASSAULTED.
INCIDENT AT ADELAIDE. Received December 11, 9.45 a.m. ADELAIDE, Dec. 11. Following an argument in the vestibule of the Assembly regarding a- bill which Mr Butterfield, Commissioner of Lands, is sponsoring, Mr Butlor/iold struck Mr Moseley, the oldest member of the House, a blow in tho face, blackening liis eye. The incident was discussed in the Assembly. Mr Butterfield, in apologising, stated that serious reflections had been cast upon him. When the members began to talk of penalties, the Speaker, who was the only witness to the assault, said he would take tlie matter entirely into his own hands and announce liis decision later.—Press Association.
SEVERE CENSURE RECORDED, Received December 11, 10.20 a.m. ADELAIDE, Dec. 11. On the resumption of the Assembly the Speaker expressed severe disapproval of the conduct of the Minister, which he said was disorderly. He placed on record severe censure for Ills unwarranted action, but accepted as a closure to the incident the expression of regret and apology tendered by him. —Press Association.
