INCREASE IN POPULATION.
•FIGURES FOR AUSTRALIA. Received December 11. 8.45 a.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 11. Official statistics show that the population of Australia on September 30th last wus estimated to he 5,835,187, an increase for the year of 120,168. The births for tho year exceeded the deaths by 79,024, and I lip arrivals exceeded tlie departures by 41,444. Since the census in April, the total population has increased by 399,453. —Press Association.
