HAND OF FATE.
AUSTRALIAN’S AFFAIRS SUFFER LONDON, Nov. 26. Liabilities £2214, assets nil, was the balance-sheet presented in the Bankruptcy Court by James de Conlay, residing in Pall 'Mall, and formerly a Brisbane journalist. De Conlay told the Court that he had been acting as propaganda agent for various interests since 1921. The execution of At. Gounaris. the Greek Premier, deprived him of £IO,OOO promised to him for watching Gounaiis’s commercial and political interests in London. He also expected £50,000 for watching German interests, but the assassination of Herr Rathenau, the German Alinister of Finance, with whom an arrangement had been made, intervened.
