HERD TESTING.

RANGIOTU ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Rangiotu Dairy Farmers' Union Herd Testing Association was held in the hall at RangioUl on Tuesday to discuss ways and means of extending herd testing as carried out by the association during the past season. Mr H. 11. Simmons presided in the absence of the chairman. Mr W. H.Gimblett. Mr Simmons expressed his pleasure at seeing so many representatives from surrounding districts present, that evening. He could assure them that the association had been most successful and had ended the first year's work with a good credit balance and with satisfaction to every member. They were now prepared to assist other branches' of the Dairy Farmers' Union io form herd testing groups or to work such districts under their own as one association. The applications received would mean three groups with one testing ofliccr for each group. The season was rapidly approaching and they would have to be ready to commence on August 1. Two sets of equipment would have to be purchased and two officers engaged. The officer they had employed last season would be with them again; he had earned a good holiday and was now enjoying it. Mr Simmons said he would like to near the suggestions of the new representatives so that they could be ready to comenee at the proper time. After a lengthy discussion it was moved and carried: That other districts now represented be worked under one association, which shall be the Rangiotu Dairy Farmers* Herd Testing Association. Applications to date represent 78 herds with approximately 4300 cows, while further applications are expected. These members are now asked to sign the agreement, which will be closed at an earlv date, when another meeting will be held. The following members were added to the committee:—Tiakilahuna: Messrs Anderson and Richardson. Taikorea: Messrs Algar. Mudford . and Foster. Glen Oroua: Messrs Scott, fioyce and Thompson.
