MOTOR CLUB.
REMITS FOR CONFERENCE.
GENERAL MEETING OF MEMBERS
A general meeting of the Manawatu Motor Club was held lust night, the president (Mr J. B. Grant) presiding over a good attendance.
A letter was received from the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union enclosing a list of horse racing days applied for by clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference in order to give motor cycle clubs a guide to the dates on which racecourses would be available for motor cycle meetings. The president was appointed the club's delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union to be held at New Plymouth early in August. It was decided to forward as a remit to the conference: "That it be compulsory for all affiliated clubs to nrovide qualified first aid and equipment at all motor cycle race meetings." On the motion of Mr P. Coleman, itwas decided to recommend to the conference that ail clubs adhere strictly to the rule of providing for the benevolent fund by setting aside two and a-half per cent, of the gata receipts al meetings and an amount equal to five per cent, of the advertised prize money. The. mover pointed out tiiat what was needed was uniformity iu the matter, for, lie stated, some clubs had unfairly deducted five per cent, from tlie prize money won by competitors, instead of providing for this portion otherwise out of funds. k was decided to recommend to the conference that clubs allot numbers at race meetings, euch rider to retain the same number throughout the meeting. It wslS explained that this would make it easier for spectators to follow riders throughout tiie dav.
The necessity for arranging race meetings in the various districts so that they followed each other at short intervals, in order to lessen the travelling expenses of competitors going from one fixture to another, was stressed by Mr A. A. Wood. It was decided to circularise motor clubs in this district asking them what arrangement could be arrived a', in the matter of having their fixtures follow one another as closely as possible. it was decide 1 to make application to the parent body for January 22 as the date of the club's annual meeting on the Ashhurst racecourse.
