POWER BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the ManawaluOroua Power Board was held to-day, when there were present: Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P. (chairman), Sir James Wilson, J. Morrison, J. S. Tingey, J. 11. Vincent, 11. 11. Hunt, F. W. Arbon, J. Linklator, M.P., M. A. Eliott, S. R. Lancaster, and P. J. Small. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Palmerston North Borough Council as to electric lines on Boundary road, and asking the board to meet a committee of the council regarding reticulation there. —The engineer was authorised to meet the committee, having power to act. From the New Zealand Gazette with reference to installations of electricity on soldiers’ farms and advising that these farms could now be charged with any cost for installation, as the War Regulations Continuance Act, 1920, had been amended. —Received, the chairman remarking that, after several deputations to Wellington, they had secured this concession, which placed the returned soldiers on the same tooting as other consumers of power. From the A.M.P. Society forwarding a cheque for £IO,OOO. making a total of £15U,000 forwarded to date. —Received. POWER FROM MANGAIIAO.

“While our engineer does not think that Wellington will get its supply from Mangahao for some little time owing to the position affecting certain machinery, lie believes that we will not be far behind time in getting our supply at this end,” suid the chairman when iiicidctntally referring to a visit paid recently to Manguhao by Mr Waters, the board's engineer. Mr Tingey: Does that mean that we will get power by June V Mr Nash: A little afterwards. STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS.

The statement of accounts was as follows: —Power fund cr. £732,3s Id; loan account, £13,255 19s 2d; Public '1 rustee, £26,188 12s lOd; total, £40176 15s Id. Accounts for payment totalled £11,812 11s Bd. The umounl of loan money received was shown at £150,000 anti the amount of loan money expended to date (stock, wages, plant, etc.) at £110,555 Bs, leaving a credit of £39,444 12s. '1 ho statements of contracts less installation contracts was: Total contracts, £97.943 8s 2d; less paid, £65,838 17s 9d; balance, £32,104 10s sd. GENERAL. In the course of (he reports furnished by the engineer, and which were adopted, it was stated that, up to January 31, the board had erected 2481 transmission poles, covering a line of ££i miles.
