DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 29. A deputation waited on the Hon. J. G. Coates to-day to protest against Motueka having to contribute towards the upkeep of the Rocks road in the boundaries of Nelson, J2 miles away. The Hon. Mr Coates said that local bodies could cite one another if traffic from other boroughs affected thenroads, but he mentioned that it was possible that the Highways Act coming into operation on April Ist wouia have an ameliorative effect on boroughs which iiad to pay for the maintenance of roadssjn other districts. He would see whether lie had the power to review the findings of a commission appointed to apportion road levies and whether the rignt of appeal should bo conferred by legislation.
