TE AWE AWE SCOUTS.

FANCY DRESS BALL.

A plain ami fancy dress ball was held in tho Empire Hall last night by the Te Awe -Awe Troop of Boy Scouts, Tho function, which was largely attended, was decidedly popular and reflected great credit on the promoters. The many pretty and varied costumes worn by the children presented a pleasing spectacle and wore judged by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs P. J. Nathan). Tho Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Palmerston North, presented Commissioner Slipper with a silver cup for the smartest patrol, which pri/.e was awarded to tho To Awe Awe 'Troop. Scoutmaster E. Richardson replied ou behalf of tho troop. Subsevuont to this, Commissioner Slipper presented the Te Awe Awe Troop with a flag, donated by Mr N. D. Stubbs. A pleasing incident of the evening was tho presentation of a bouquet to Airs Nathan bv Scout Stubbs.

The prizes for fancy drosses wore won as follow: Best dressed girl, Marjorie Barker; boy, Allan Jones; most original costume, girl, Edna Angus; boy, Ken Angus; most economical costume, girl, Enid Varcoo; boy, Lance White,
