BIRTHDAY HONOURS ANNOUNCED.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June i

The Governor-General announces that His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased on the occasion of his birthday to confer the following honours in recognition of distinguished service:—Knight Commander of the A lost Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.8.E.), Robert Howard Nolan, C.8.E., honorary secretary and officer-in-charge of the Now Zealand Soldiers’ Club in London from the date of its inception, early in the war, until its close some time after hostilities ceased. This dub, which was admirably conducted, was of incalculable value to the New Zealand troops on leave. Air Nolan was formerly associated with agricultural development and progress in the Taranaki province. He was created Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1018. Knight Bachelor: The Honourable Frederick Reruns Chapman, who was appointed a Judge of the New Zealand Supreme Court in 1908, and president of the Court of Arbitration ]9OB-1907, compiler of New Zealand Statutes, 1921.

Companion of Most Honourable Order of tho Bath (O.B.), military division: Commodore Allan Geoffrey Hotham, C.M.G., Naval aide do camp to the King, in recognition of valuable services rendered in organising recruiting and training for the New Zealand division of the Royal Navy and its Naval Adviser to the New Zealand Government.

Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.): James William Tibbs, 31. A., one of the Dominion’s leading educationalists, who recently retired from the position of headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, which he had occupied for many years with conspicuous success. Thomas Edward Donne, secretary of the Now Zealand High Commissioner’s Office, London, joined the New Zealand Public Service in 1875, was superintendent of the Department ot Tourist and Health Resorts in 1901, and entered the High Commissioner’s Office, London, in 1909. Officer of Most Excellent Order of British Empire (0.8. E.): Frederick William Flanagan, permanent head ol the Valuation Department, who has been a member of the New Zealand Public Service for more than half a century.
