The French shipping returns for rh" ■weekare : Arrivals 980; sailings, 1032; sinkings above 1600 tons nil; below, one; unsuccessfully attacked, four. ITALIAN LOSSES. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. Received October 26. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 25. An Italian official message cives the number of arrivals at 427, and. the departures as 414. One steamer over and three under 1500 tons were sunk. One was unsuccessfully attacked. STATEMENT BY DR. MACNAMARA Received October 26. 11.40 a.m. LONDON. Oct. 25. Dr. MacNamara, in the House of Commons, replying to a question, said ho could not give an assurance that ships were being built more rapirllv than they were torpedoed. The First Lord of the.Admiralty wotdd shortly make a comprehensive statement on the subject.
