HOW THE MONEY WILL BE SPENT

It having been stated in the Borough Council last evening that ratepayers were anxious to know more about tnc proposals to take a loan of £IOO.OOO for the purchase of the gasworks, the Mayor announced that the loan would be divided into three sections, as follows£6s.ooo for the purchase of the works; £SOOO for acquiring land and buildings for showroom and workshops, and £30,000 for extensions and additions.

The Mayor pointed out that there would be a public meeting next week, at which ratepayers would be invited to ask questions concur nine: the purchase of the works. Ho said it must be patent to everyone that a reduction in the price of gas would mean increased consumption, necessitating considerable extensions.

Owing to an error in issuing the special order, the taking of the loan poll has been delayed for al>out four weeks.
