Stifanoff, a Bulgarian, abducted a Mussulman girl. _ The Courts decided that the girl, being a minor, .must be returned to her parents. The populace at Rusrchuk supported Stifanoff's resistance of the decree, and in the resultant fight the police killed sixteen of the people and wounded a hundred, many seriously. The Minister for the Interior is widely blamed, and also the police and military for over-zcalously and culpably executing the Courts' orders in the face of public excitement. The guard has been reinforced. King Ferdinand is much upset at the occurrence.
