MEASURES IN THE HOUSE OF
COMMONS

Sir Chas. McLaren, M.P. for Bosworth, has introduced what is called "the women's charter" in the House of Commons, and it was road a first time. It consists of nine Bills, including measures for the enfranchisement of women, entitling them to divorce on the grounds of men's unfaithfulness, also granting wives a sum equivalent to the aggregate of the wages earned as housekeepers in the event of thir husband's death, divorce, separation or bankruptcy. All educational facilities arc to be shared by both sexes equally. Provision is made for supplying mid'wives and the establishment of creches modelled on the German systems introduced by Pestaozzi and Froobel. Houses and milk for in fants are to be provided by municipal ities.
