PALMERSTON HOSPITAL BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Board's offices today the following members being in attendance:—Messrs J. G. Wilson (chairman), 0. Vose, L. R. Bryant, W. Stubbe, D. Howie, J. H. Vincent, H. Fowler, G. Kendall and J. A. Nash. The following correspondence wae received : — From the matron, forwarding report for February: Patients in Hospital February 1, 37; admitted during the monfh, 44; total 81; discharged cured, 29, relieved, 4; not relieved, 3; left against order, 1; died, 3; in Hospital March 1, 1910, 41. From Treasury, notifying that £180 grant for D.T. ward had been remitted to Board's credit. From Department of Hospitals and Charitable Aid, with regulations as to the conducting , of election for new Board and apportionment of representatives and gazette notices of date fixed for elections j and extract from the Act. From Department of Public Health, stating that a consumptive patient had been discharged on account of insubordination, and was now in the Wai-, kato Hospital, pending decision of the Palmerston North Board. —It was decided to give Dr. Valintine full particulars in connection with this case, the members being of opinion that the Board were not liable for his maintenance. From Wellington Hospital Board, askin"- if the Board would guarantee maintenance of F. W. Wray at the Otaki Sanatorium.—Decided that the Board was not favourable to Wray going to OtaJci, as there was already accommodation here for such patients From Inspector of Noxious Weeds, that pennyroyal had not been declared a noxious weed by the Palmerston North Council. —Letter to be sent asking the ]3orough Council to take necessarj fiteps to have- the weed brought under the Act. From Foxton Presbyterian Church, forwarding a donation of £2 9s 6d. —Received with thanks. From Messrs J. Robson and J. McHardie,' forwarding amounts of Hospital account. From Halcombo Town Board, asking what steps should be taken to get Jas. Keen into Wanganui Old Men's Home. — Left in Mr Aisher's hands with power to act. From Dr. Watson, recommending that some person be found to look after Mr and Mrs Salisbury.—Matter to bo left to Mr Aisher to make best possible arrangements. From N.Z. Times Co., per Mi6s Walden, stating that a copy of paper would be supplied to the Hospital gratis for five vears. —Received with thanks. From Miss E. Carter, applying for appointment as a probationer. —Name to bo placed on list. From P.N. Friendly Societies' Council, asking permission to place a tablet with particulars as to Lodges on the wall of male verandah. —Request granted, subject to the decision of the executive as to where it should be placed. From Messrs D. Howie, W. G. Pearce, H. Fowler, W. Stubbs and G. Kendall, agreeing to defer calling application for position of secretary until after this meeting, applications to be called in the Palmerston. Feilding and Foxton papers, to be in by March 31. CONSUMPTIVES' ANNEXE. • Mrs J. A. Naeh wrote stating that the All Nations Fair committee expected to hand over about £700 (apart from the Government subsidy), as the proceeds of the Fair, and asking that the Board take the necessary steps to have the erection of the consumptives' annexe proceeded with as soon as possible. It was decided to write thanking Mrs Nash and her assistants for their great efforts, the chairman expressing his extreme pleasure at the result of the affair. Ho also apologised for his unavoidable absence from the Fair. It was decided to apply to the Department for permission to erect an annexe at a cost not to exceed £1450, the Board to select a site during their visit to the grounds to-day. REPORT. The relieving officer, Mr Aisher, forwarded his ueual lengthy and detailed report. The only matter arising out of the report was the case of a Mrs Tapp, who had been sent to Hawera from here and returned by the Hawera Board. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of Mr Aisher. MISCELLANEOUS. Elaborate plans supplied by Mr F. G, Alfrey, of the Hospital buildings and grounds, were laid on the table._ The members expressed great satisfaction at their completeness 1 and attention to detail. The Board then went into committee. Dr. Wilson forwarded his resignation as a hospital surgeon, and it was decided to accept it as from March 31. 1910. The tender of,Mr H. Woodfield for livery of the ambulance waggon and Mr W. Devine for the supply of wines and spirits were accepted. Accounts totalling £576 17s 6d were passed for payment. The following additional representatives have been elected to tho Palmcrston Hospital Board: — Manawatu County and Foxton Borough (combined). —Messrs G. Kendall, A. Speirs and J. G. Wilson. Kairanga County. —Messrs L. R. Bry ant and C. Voss.
