Several violent shocks with subterranean rumblings have occurred at Reggio, causing the collapse of many walls and creating a panic. ... Another shock of an undulating character at Messina greatly alarmed the people. . European seismographs indicate that an unreported earthquake, equal in violence to the Sicilian, has occurred. It is possibly a submarine disturbance.
