Another Big Battle in Progress

Russian and Japanese Reinforcements.

(Received Oct. 20, at 9.25 a.m.)

LONDON, Oct. 19. It is understood at Tokio that another great battle has begun in the centre.

There are indications that Kuropatkin has transferred a portion of his forces east and west. ■'■■ '

. . The telegrams from Mukden and Harbin, cabled yesterday and to-day, that the Russians were driving in the centre, are not mentioned in official despatches. The Times surmises .they are intended for consumption in Russia.

It is reported that Kuropatkin has re? ceived 20,000 reinforcements from Kirin, and Oyama has received a whole brigade from Niuchwang.

Mistchenko's infantry defeated several battalions on Monday, the Japanese saving their guns by enormous losses.
