Wedderburn Carnival.
The following is the conclusion of our correspondent's report of the above function:—
A concert and dance was held in the hall at night, the house being filled to overflowing. Opening item, musical selection, Mißs Mawhinney (piano), Mr M'Lennan (violin); songs, Miss M'Lennan, Mr W. Helm (encored); recitation, Mr J. H. Davis; dialogue, school children (encored); song, Miss Morgan; impersonations, Mr H. Law (encore, song); recitation, Mr Wm. Shea (encore); item, school children (tmcored); farce, by Messrs H. Law W. W. Smith, Wm. Shea and Wm' Lobb.
At the conclusion of the concert Mr R. V. Inder sold a miscellaneous collection—viz., calf, fowls, dolls, cakes, watches, fruit, etc.
A dance followed, which was crowded ahd kept going till well on in the morning.
A meeting of committee was held on the 31st ult., when the balance-sheet was presented and passed. Mrs Shea again came to the front with nn Easter Sunday's goose, which realise I £4 15s 6d, and Mr George Skene, Dunedin, seed merchant, donated £1 worth of vegetable and flower seeds. These were bought by Mr Duncan for £1 l a j Mr I?. Law £l.
Votes of thanks were passed to everyone who by gifts of caah or kind had assisted in bringing the .undertaking to such a successful issue. Our worthy secretary, Mr ftm. Shea, deserves special mention for his capable work.
