Dunstan Presbytery.
The Dunstan Presbytery met at Ranfurly recently; present—the Revs. F. _R. Blue i(Moderator), M'Cosh Smith, J. T. Gunn, W. P. Rankin, J. Standring, E. Adama, and A. V. G. Chandler, and Messrs M'Lean, M'Kellar, and W. Smith (elders). Messrs H. Wilson and Forrester were present as commissioners from the Mount Ida charge. The resignation of the Rev E. Adams, of Naseby, was accepted, to date from April 27, the Dunstan Presbytery having appointed Mr Adams to Chalmers Church, Dunedin. The Rev. A. V. G. Chandler moved, and the Rev. J. T. Gunn seconded, the following resolution :—"The Dunstan Presbytery desires to place on record its appreciation of the character and work df the Rev. E. Adams. During his m'nistry in the Mount Ida charge Mr Adams has won the warm affuction of his people and his brother ministers. He has always endeavoured to present the Gospel message with earnestness and fidelity, and has been faithful in his pastoral ministrations. Tactful and gonial in his relations with his people, courteuus and businesslike with tiis fellow presbyters, he won the esteem of all. In the work of the Presbytery Mr Adams has taken a prominent part, and as Moderator of vacancies and clerk he has greatly furthered the work of the church. The Presbytery regrets the removal of one whose aid was invaluable, and prays that both Mr and Mrs Adams may be divinely strengthened in their new sphere, and may long enjoy the blessings of health and prosperity."
The Rev. J. T. Gunn was' appointed Moderator of Presbytery for the ensuing year.
It was decided to ordain Mr M. M'Lean home missionary at Ida Valley. The Rev. Mr Blue was appointed Moderator of the Mount Ida charge* the Rev. A. V. G. Chandler Moderator of Ida Valley; and the Rev. W. P. Rankin Moderator of Wanaka, Mr Chandler was selected clerk of Presbytery, and the Kev J. Standring and Mr Wise a committee on Protestant Principles.
The Presbytery approved of Cromwell's application for grant for manse repairs, and on the motion of Mr Standring, nominated the Rev. W. Nicholl as Moderator of Otago and Southland Synod. It was agreed heartily to congratulate the Hon. James Allen on his decision not to introduce the "wet" canteens into our military camps.
