He was induced to take this step in consequence of having to devote his whole time to private affairs. The Premier left Wellington for the South to-day. The decision of the court in the Tararua case will probably be give a next Friday. Dunedin. Mr Watt will take the Oamaru district, sitting once a fortnight at Hampden and Palmerstou. The opening of the Dunedin Industrial Exhibition will likely be delayed beyond the Ist of June, as the Melbourne contingent is not to hand. The ' Daily Times ' Company has sold tH>.ir former office and freehold near the railway station to the Union S; S. Company "for £11,500. Auckland. John Smith's racing stud was offered for sale, but was withdrawn, at the reserve. The Stud Company offered £SOO for Maid of Honor. Herr Bandman's Company opened at the Theatre B.oyal with Hamlet, to a good house. The Government has notified the Hamilton Borough Council that unless they take up the bridge debentures Faßter the Cdntroller would levy the rates of the Council. It agreed to spend £2OO in hand to liquidate a portion of the liability.

rSc§nt indisposition, and is now able to transact business. St. Petersburg, May 19th. General Ignatieff, recently appointed Minister of the Interior, has isfe-ued a circular with reference to the intentions of the Czar in connection withfthe present Int« rnational condition of Russia. The circular states that every effort will be made to extirpate the spirit of rebellion among people, to strengthen the religious faith and morals of the peasantry, aud to lessen their burdens. The aristocracy generally extol the terms of the circular.
