* There is a paragraph in the old copy of the Times of 100 years ago which Mr tSeddon may Jay by, showing that -his taste for banquets is confirmed by precedent; It states :- Yesterday i Mr Pitt and Lord Spencer, attended by several of their friends, went down to Black wall, to view the manner of sailing of the Transit, a vessel built on a new construction, with five masts. After seeing the experiment they dined with Mr Preston. The farmers had good times in 'those days. The crops were never known to be more abundant, par* ticularly the oats. Good oats have been sold at one guinea par quarter. The price of bread was reported at Dorchester to be eleven pence the quartern loaf.
