BREAKAGES AT WELLINGTON

Not so many weeks ago reports wore received by the police of valuable plate-glass'in shop -windows at Wellington having been smashed by some- person unknown, and the damage amounted to over £100. During the past-week end (says the Dominion) another lot of valuable plate-glass has been smashed, some of it in daylight. Two glass panels 1 in the premises of Meadows and Co., Ballance Street', were broken between G. 15 and 7.45 p.m. on Saturday; a i large window in the Union C'omi pany's building was smashed between j 9 and 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, S and on Tuesday morning plate-glass i in the shop front of tho premises oi the Cash Register Company, in Lower Cuba Street, wan smashed, probably soon after 7 o'clock. In every instance the glass has been smashed i with heavy stones, not ordinary road metal, but large stones apparently specially procured for tho purpose. The miscreant is believed to be an adult Other windows broken during tho week-end were one at BaUinger Bros., Maginnity Street; Tosman^ tobacconist, Panama Street; Ross ' and Glendimiing, Briscoe and Co., and E. W. Mills and Co. Ltd. Victoria Street; raid Bird and Janaon, Upper Willis Street. The polico are making investigations.
