TE AWAMUTU SCHOOL STRIKE.
• The fact that therel are two sides to a question was vividly exemplified when the- Member for Waikaio called the attention of the Minister for Education to the proposed school strike at To Awamutu owing to the delay in .providing a new school. The Minister replied that he' re-c-eivcd a protest from the Mayor of 'le Awamutu by way iof collect telegram, on which life department had to pay 12s 6d. He would not con. sjde-r any more telegrams of that sort.—(Laughter). Thp fact was that a grant of £3550 for this school was passed in June, 1919, jbut there had been great difficulty iii securing tenders, two advertisements failing to secure a response. " However, the Auckland Education Board's architect ■had three builders to submit tenders, the lowest being £1200 in excess of the grant. : This was reported that morning, and the matter v ould come before Cabinet on the first opportunity. ' ;
